I just wanted to say, thank you all for your comments and helpful hints on what should be placed in a blog. I have made a list and will be working on adding some of the suggested
featurers over the upcoming weeks.
Here are 3 works done over the weekend. "So Good" (the shrimp and lemon wedges) was very challenging but I thought came out very well. Getting the feeling things are wet was not easy and I had to pay careful attention to the values and place the highlights carefully.
I'm attempting to set up
compositions that are pleasing but are not symmetrical, as is the case of the painting " Showing some independence" (Pear, Apple and Grapes) were I placed most of the weight to the right side of the canvas and counter balanced it with the one lone grape. I sometimes feel like that
grape.
The painting "Tastey, Arkansas Blacks" was another composition where I gave the viewer a progression of some sort across the canvas to arrive at the eaten apple core.
I feel each of these have a story type quality to them and hope to engage the viewer to ask questions about them instead of just being pretty to look at. As always your comments are welcome and anyone having any questions to open an ongoing dialogue would be a great way to start this blog. I look forward to hearing from you.
Each of these are for sale and can be found at Junor Gallery in downtown Decatur GA. Please attend the opening reception coming up this Thursday evening November 20th from 6pm
till 9pm to see them and other works I have on display till January 15th. Hope you can make it.
